Welcome to the Bates family blog! Gil and Kelly have been married since 1987 and have nineteen children. Twelve of their children have been married. They have thirty-two grandchildren with one on the way due June 2025. They have four children and eight grandchildren in heaven.
Evan and Carlin shared an update on their baby girl on their Youtube channel. We want to encourage you to be praying and if you have any advice on how they should be handling this.
She needs an apnea monitor to wear for a few weeks. To see if maybe if she is holding her breathe or that something is not obstructing her air way causing her oxygen to drop. My prays are with y’all. ❤️
Praying for your precious baby girl and your whole family. May He give you peace and strength during this time.....and complete healing for her tiny body
Praying for you. My oldest son had a heart defect when born and his oxygen level would drop and he woukd turn blue when he would cry or eat. It was a hard year but hes great after surgery. My youngest son had a hole in his heart and it closed itself with no intervention. Reflux did cause them both to choke a lot. I hope everything is ok.
There is a “condition” that we call at my children’s hospital as Brief Resolved Unexplained Event. From what you have explained that seems to be what you have going on. Stinks nonetheless but unfortunately no real treatment for the situation. Matter of time and baby’s growth and brain development to keep all signals firing as to what the body needs to do. I always see these scares in the little ones, once they are a few months old seems to be more rare. Prayers for calmer days ahead!
Before you had even reached the Peds office my initial thought was reflux. Start keeping a log of everything. This will help you when you visit the doctors. Jot down simple things like is she laying flat after nursing and you notice a drop in her stats; sometimes you can make a connection to a position and a reaction. Reflux usually is outgrown but the pressure on the tummy and the acid build up can cause issues in other systems - especially until she is able to sit up on her own and gravity works in her favor. She may do better in a front pack carrier positioned straight up and down vs. a wrap where they are all snuggled up like a ball. After nursing try to keep her inclined for at least 30 mins. People tend to think it isn't reflux if baby doesn't appear to be spitting up in large quantities - in reality, it is worse on baby because that acid is building up versus being expelled. Such a scary time and doubly hard because access to medical help presents so much more risk right now. Praying for your precious little girl.
I'm so sorry you're going through this. I will keep little Layla in my prayers! My son had a scary allergic reaction at 4mon old and started turned blue. I can remember the panic and fear I felt. But be encouraged that after many doctors visits and tests we figured things out & I pray you'll get the answers and proper advice/care also! God is so good, he walks with us and gets us through these times! Sending you lots of prayers and encouragement from Los Angeles!
Oh, honey! I am so sorry you are going through this. She has amazing parents and is in the best hands with you both. You will do the right thing. You are all in my prayers.
Thank you so much for leaving a comment. We will try our best to answer to each comment but due to the amount of comments that we receive, we can only do our best.
