Welcome to the Bates family blog! Gil and Kelly have been married since 1987 and have welcomed nineteen children. Thirteen of their children are married with one child engaged to be married. They have forty grandchildren with two foster grandchildren.

Oh Hello June!
The Bates family only has one birthday this month and be sure to check out the June birthday cover to find out who it is.
Bringing Up Bates will return on June 7th for brand new episodes.
Bobby and Tori will celebrate their sixth month wedding anniversary. They will have five months until their baby arrives. We will have baby games this month.
The family will also celebrate Father's Day! Be sure to check out our newest father's day cover that we shared on May 27, 2018.
We have updates for Carlin and Josie's courtships.
We will be ending All about Kaci's updates this month as the little girl will celebrate her second birthday.

Class of 2018!
Last night marked a special night for the Bates family as Trace, Tori and Josie graduated from Crown College.
Many have asked what have the girls and Trace graduated from.Tori- Magna Cum Laude BS Elementary Education, Josie- Cosmetology & Bible Program, Trace- Bible Program.
There is still announcement coming on Thursday which is two days away!

Recap: The Bates Get Candid
During Tonight's episode, the family members are sitting down with Matt Hightower to answer questions about how it's like film Bringing Up Bates.
The parents of 19 children are going first. Gil and Kelly say that if they are watching the show, Gil will be in tears since it's tender to them now that they have five children married and the other children grow up fast. Gil and Kelly know that one day they will be sitting in an empty house. Gil adds that he doesn't know if the house will ever be empty since they haven't had a boy married off in three years.
Kelly reveals that if she has a gloomy day then she calls one of the kids to talk. Kelly says that it's a goal for the show since they are in this together during the good and the bad times.
What is the couple's secret about having a close-knit family? They reveal that it's praying, playing and laughing together is their secret.
The next group (Zach and Whitney, Erin and Chad, Tori and Bobby) is on deck to answer the question. Matt asked what is it like to have small children who have been on reality TV for their entire lives?
Erin answers that Carson freezes up even through he is used to the camera being there three days a week. She adds that her son doesn't act like himself yet. Whitney reveals that her daughter doesn't know what to think about it and just stands behind the cameras.
The last ones to join the fun is Lawson, Carlin, Josie and Katie are the next ones to be question. Matt asked the group what it is like to live life with a camera in front of them.
Lawson reveals that it's been hard to have a camera in his face however for the youngest three little ones (Jeb, Judson and Callie) let loose on the camera.
Do the family watch all the shows? The older ones admit that they don't watch the show since they are too critical of themselves. Kelly approves the episodes and often gives them a heads up so they can watch the show.
Carlin is asked when she expects to get married and she says that she will be married within the next year.
Matt gets asked who is his favorite? He responds his favorite is all the family since he loves them all. The family and crew have become like family.

9 Bates Updates!
The Bates family have been quite busy that we thought that it would be wonderful to share a few things of what they have been up to.
Zach and Whitney are working on their house. As their latest update on Facebook, they just chose the cabinets and counter-tops for their new home.
Chad and Erin are a little over three months away from welcoming their third child, a daughter, in late April 2018. John and Alyssa are three months away from welcoming their third child, in early April 2018. It will be interesting to see if they have the girls close together.
Trace shared on Instagram that he just started a new semester at Crown College yesterday. Katie is in her last semester of high school and just started at Crown College.
Josie recently graduated cosmetology school last semester and passed her licensing exam. She had a job interview and is waiting to hear back.
Bobby and Tori are living in apartment while Tori finishes up her classes in May. We are so excited to share that Bobby and Tori are moving to Nashville. Bobby has gotten a job at Bible Baptist while Tori hopes to use her teaching degree at a local Christian school. She just started student teaching in a first grade classroom on Monday.
Lawson has been working on his music for 4-5 days per week. He and Nathan are currently on a mission trip.
Nathan spends his time working with his father in the tree business and teaching flying lessons. He also has been doing mission trip.

College/Career updates
We have an update on a few of the Bates children that we would love to share with you all.
Lawson has been working on his music career and travels between Nashville and home.
Nathan has been working on his pilots license out in Mississippi state for a few months but recently returned home for a while.
Tori is courting Bobby Smith. She has been working on her education degree and will graduate in May 2018. She recently announced on Bringing Up Bates that she plans to get married after her graduation. Bobby has stated that he has thought about moving to Tennessee to be closer to her.
Trace is currently enrolled in Crown College and has not revealed his degree just yet. Trace revealed that he hopes to be a trick rider at the Dixie Stampede but it has not work out just yet.
Carlin is also enrolled at Crown College where she is working on her music major. She is in a unofficial courtship with Evan Stewart.
Josie is enrolled at Crown College where she is working on her cosmetology major.
The children at Crown College have enjoyed riding together and being the support team that they need.
