Ellie Turns 5

                    Ellie Bridget Bates turns 5 today. She is the 16th child of Gil and Kelly Bates. She is the 9th daughter of Gil and Kelly Bates. Ellie is a very sweet girl who loves to give hugs and cuddle in someone's lap. Happy 5th Birthday, Ellie!

Fun Facts about the Bates

                     Here are some fun facts about the Bates:
                     1. Kelly Bates gave birth to all 19 of Gil and her children.
                     2. Kelly gave birth to no sets of twins.
                     3. There are 10 girls and 9 boys.
                     4. The Bates children all learn music instruments, usually piano and violin. Some of them are able to play more. They are very talented, especially Zach, Erin, and Lawson.
                     5. The Bates children also all learn how to sing.
                     6. They attend a small Baptist church called Still Waters Baptist Church.
                     7. They homeschool their children.
                     8. They are very good friends with another large family, the Duggars. The Duggars are shown on the TLC show, "19 Kids and Counting".
                    9. They will have a reality TV show on TLC in June.
                    10. Some of the older Bates kids: Zach, Nathan, and Lawson, enjoy Bluegrass music.
                    11. They have their own tree service.
                    12. The space between their children is 13 to 18 months apart.

Carlin Turns 14

              Carlin Brianne Bates turns 14 today. She is the 9th Bates kid and the 5th daughter of Gil and Kelly Bates. She loves serving on of her older siblings by ironing their clothes, straightening their room, or doing their laundry. She has recently finished reading the bible in a year.
             Happy 14th Birthday, Carlin!

Bates Kids Who Use Their Middle Names As First Names

                      There are two Bates kids who use their middle names as first name. They are Lawson and Nathan. Lawson's first name is William, but he uses his middle name of Lawson as his first name. Nathan's first name is Kenneth, but he uses the shortened form of his middle name as his first name. His middle name is Nathaniel, but he shortened it to Nathan.
