Clearing somethings up!

John and Alyssa: Many of you notice that the maternity pictures that they took that Alyssa wore pants in some of them. Many of you think that she is making the wrong choice about what she wears but she looks really cute in anything that she wears. What many of you don't know is that Whitney wore pants before she started a courtship with Zach.

Chad and Erin: Many of you have comment on Our journey to parenthood first post for them that we said "First little one". We honor each and every life that they have gotten pregnant no matter how short their lives are.

    It is up to the individual whether they choose to wear pants or not. as long as they are modest what is wrong with them? would rather see them in jeans riding horses than skirts any day and there are some things you just should not wear skirts for and maintain modesty

    Each person has their own convictions and must do what they believe is right before the Lord. God gives us all the freedom to choose our walk with Him and we should not judge.

    Modesty is even better maintained in pants :-) If its a sin to wear pants. Someone needs to include scripture to back that up.

      Deuteronomy 22:5 a woman isn't supposed to wear anything that pertained to a man

      Are the legs the problem? A pair of lady's panty hose has legs. Look at the clothing Jesus wore. No one wore pants. However the GARMENTS were made for men and women.

      Deuteronomy 22:5 is a law against Israelite men and ladies wearing garments that would identify them as worshippers of Asherah. Any man or women who wore them were committing an abomination against Yaweh. Go to Dr Claude Mariottini's website. He is a professor of Old Testament at Northern Baptist Seminary.

      This was under the old law. When Jesus died the old law was done away with and we are to now follow the law found in the New Testament. There is no scripture under the new law requiring women to wear skirts or dresses.

      I agree. Deuteronomy 22:5 says that. For some reason that verse is in the Bible. Don't you think that even now God wants us to wear women clothing and not men's? Some pants are immodest. God says to be modest.

      In biblical times both men and woman were robes. Deuteronomy 22:5 talks about cross dressing it says nothing about pants vs skirts.

    We are all responsible to maintain modesty. A lady wearing pants, this just is not modesty. The outline of her body is not supposed to be shown. The wearing of pants, shows off every curve. If you cannot as a lady do something wearing a modest fitting shirt or dress, then please do not do that.

      I wear pants, jeans and I don't wear cleavage or any short shorts or short skits. there are very not lady like skirts. I see them , and I know Jesus said don't judge but I cringe when I see girls wearing such short skirts. I would rather them see them in pants. my daughter wear pants and is being raised to be a lady. there is modesty in everything a woman can wear , is all about how you carry yourself . she may feel more comfortable wearing pants being pregnant. in california buying skirts with elastic may be more expensive. did that though cross your mind ? at any rate , I try to do what Jesus did. I will not take that stone that he who was without sin did not cast , to cast it myself. is why after I cringe I say , Jesus says to not judge , that includes us deciding what is right to "us" and let that be the measure to others. do what feels right to you. let the critique and judgment to who belongs . God . have a blessed day .

      Slacks/pants can be very nice looking on a female body without hugging the frame and showing curves. Maternity slacks/skirts used to have a panel for the expanding abdomen. Not sure if they even make those anymore. But if Alyssa is comfortable wearing pants that's her choice and I'm sure she and John have discussed the matter.

      If you have a woman standing in a skirt and the wind blows up her skirt how modest is that...now you have a lady standing in a pair of pants and the wind blows no underwear will be showed

      To answer your question, normally when you were a skirt that you normally have either shorts or leggings under your skirt just in case that happens.

    I think it is great she wore pants! I have never understood how a cute pair of jeans are not modest. You are actually covering up more than with a skirt. Makes me feel like this family is more "real" than the Duggars

    I a glad you have raised children who can make decisions for their lives- you are a wonderful family with beautiful respectful children. Wearing pants has nothing to do with how you live your life- everyone I know wears pants and we are all good people

    I am enjoying watching both of them take either chosen paths from your home. You have wonderful children and lead by an amazing example everyone can follow. I wish them all the love in their new adventure of being moms!

    I agree with modesty while pregnant is easier in pants to each his or her own definition and religious belief in this situation. God understands you are as modest as you can be under the circumstances. I know being pregnant wearing a skirt would have me putting pants on underneath as it's not easy to sit or get up modestly without something underneath even the duggars do the same for modesty and in warm weather it maybe to warm to wear the skirt with pants underneath.

    If you read the bible it in relation to wearing of men and woman's clothing.... This is about undergarments not outer garments.... Jesus also touched on wearing clothing of different materials...... Why is this such an issue if anyone chooses to wear either a dress or a skirt.... Policewoman and military woman are required to wear pants for safety reasons are they too offended God? Probably not as they are carrying out and enforcing the Laws which most derive from Gods Commandments....

    Btw instead of judging Alyssa wearing pants which is very un-Jesus like being judge mental. How about you negative nellies say how beautiful she is and how blessed she is to be carrying her first gift from God..... Stop and think of your saying and making snide remarks about it..... Look for the beauty in the moment that she is sharing her happiness of her pregnancy with the world.... She is praising God by showing how much she appreciates the months it takes to grow and nurture a child...

    The Bates are a great family, if Alyssa wants to wear pants, there's nothing wrong with that and she looks great. There are greater sins out there than wearing pants. Congratulations to all the Bates kids on their marriages and children here and on the way.

    Its all about personal convictions, my family females all wear skirts but that our convection I told my girls when they get older and move out they decided for themselves. To me its not wrong for women to wear pants of they are not convected of it, but it would be wrong for me personally
